Churchill is a town in Northern Manitoba, Canada, located on the west shore of Hudson Bay, roughly 140 km from the Manitoba–Nunavut border.
It is most famous for the Polar Bears to move toward the shore from inland in the autumn, leading to the nickname "Polar Bear Capital of the World"
I was born in Fort Churchill and raised on and off in Churchill and the community of York Landing. I am Cree from York Factory First Nation. I’m an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman and also in love with nature photography. I have been guiding for more than 20 years. I love the outdoors and everything about it. I have a great respect for and love working with polar bears, the main animals I guide photographers for. Seeing their excitement and awe when they view our animals is a very rewarding experience.
As a former resident, Deidre is no stranger to Churchill or the wildlife. While most people go south for vacation, Deidre goes north to Churchill to take in the beauty and enjoy the crisp clean air that is Churchill. When not out in the field with Kishchikamee, she can be found (usually with Norman) hunting, fishing, and camping.
A member of Ebb and Flow First Nation and proud Anishinaabe, weekends are usually spent on the pow wow trail visiting and dancing in different communities. As if that wasn’t enough, any free moments are spent at her sewing machine creating beautiful star blankets.
I am a wildlife photographer and also a Canadian professional certified expedition/tour guide with strong tour leading and problem solving skills.
With more than 17 years of experience, I will accommodate the photographers/tourist in capturing the moment of lifetime in viewing the Polar Bear habitat.
My wildlife adventures expand my view to love more and care for our planet each and every time. As a wildlife expedition guide, I want to raise awareness of endangered species and damages that we, as human, have done to our beautiful planet.
